The Department of Human Resources is accepting applications for the following position.

 

 

Job Title: Plumber Helper

Department: Engineering & Facilities

 Reports to: Chief of Engineering & Facilities

Salary: $16,478.32 – $22,809.85

 

Position Summary:

To assist in the performance of duties to operate and maintain facility equipment and infrastructure necessary for producing a continuous supply of water to the Healthcare facility.  Responsible for the preventive maintenance, installation, repairing and maintaining water lines/pipes, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution and waste water disposal in Healthcare facility. Work in a safe, efficient manner while maintaining continuous cleanliness and general housekeeping.

 

Incumbent may be required to work shift and/or stand-by on a rotational basis and report to work on a callback basis as needed within a designated time frame.  Standby assignment is at the discretion of the Division Manager.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair and maintain plumbing systems and components
  • Review building plans and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing and materials
  • Identify required tools and special equipment
  • Select the correct project materials required for assigned tasking
  • Locate and mark positions for connections and fixtures
  • Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment
  • Assemble and install valves and fittings
  • Install, repair and maintain water treatment equipment, piping and controls
  • Test line/pipe systems and fixtures for leaks
  • Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet code requirements
  • Installing, maintaining and repairing plumbing systems and fixtures.
  • Fitting and repairing various household appliances.
  • Cutting, welding and assembling pipes, tubes, fittings, and fixtures.
  • Inspecting and testing plumbing systems for safety, functionality, and code compliance.
  • Handling customer queries and responding to repair order requests
  • Troubleshooting and resolving problem
  • Performs urgent corrective, routine and requisitioned repairs of electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems as required.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients or employees of organization.
  • Perform all other duties assigned within the Maintenance Department including other trades

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to: Stand or walk for long periods of time during the regular work day; use arms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds; climb up and down ladders, work at high lights, scaffolds and other climbing devices; carry tools and equipment; work while in stooped, kneeling, crouched, and crawling positions; be able to see naturally or with correction.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Education

  • High school Diploma
  • Desired Plumber Certification and/or Vocational Certificate
  • Desired License in Plumber
